Breakfast in Hotel Nikko Tsukuba
Restaurant/places to eat in Hotel Nikko Tsukuba

This was our 2nd stay in 10 days. This time we had an incredible breakfast -- the best omelette that I've ever had -- and tried to sample about a third of the huge number of other options. During the previous evening, I had a delicious beef dish at the "Chinese" restaurant, one of the 3 eating options at the hotel. Not sure how "Chinese" it was-- I've never had such a beed dish during my various stays in different parts of China -- but it was also melt-in-your-mouth; and the service made one feel like a king. The deep-bath came with a packet with a dry bar of "bath bar", which dissolves in the water turning it fragrant and a bit blue. That was fun; and you smelled nice (faintly) afterwards. The hotel is perfect for regional train and bus connections from the adjacent main station complex. It is also a short-walk from parks that have rotating free exhibitions; and a superb public library.

Location onto the wonderful Tsukuba walking area was perfect for strolls to the parks, a huge selection of restaurants (we liked the very-traditional-Italian style Pizza place at the end of the park with the Space Museum, grocery just opposite, and immediate access to the train/bus stations (hence a direct bus to Narita Airport; or a fast train to Tokyo). The hotel has 3 restaurants (upscale Chinese, and 2 Japanese); but I only tried the Japanese one. We will stay here again next weekend before going to Narita; and then we'll try the breakfast. Bit pricey, but we'll see if the quality/selection justifies it.

right in the center of Tsukuba, at a short walking distance (5 minutes) from the railway station. The room is hvery pleasant with a large bed, a high-standard bathroom, a corner with a desk to work and another corner with an armchair to relax. And all the little details making the difference are there (for instance a fridge, a kettle, nice cups, a comfortable bathrobe). Well isolated from the sounds around. The assurance of a good sleep.

Nice hotel with decent sized rooms and near shopping center and various restaurants. Tsukuba is not what I call a pretty city, but very planned and rather modern. This hotel is very much similar in that sense. Good breakfast and very helpful staff. Location is next to train station direct to Tokyo which is very convenient.

The location is excellent. The staff is very welcoming, warm and accommodative. We reached 2 hours late, at 11.30 pm in the night. The reception person welcomed us warmly so late in the night and told us how he was just waiting for us to check in.
